It was not long ago when Digg was only a new social-bookmarking site from San Francisco, but Slashdot is still a very big news site but has one big downfall (it is not left open to the users to compile the news).
A mention on the front page of Digg can cripple a server for days but has Digg Buried Slashdot as the most popular or is Slashdot still the bigger and better site.
One look at the graph above from Alexa shows that Slashdot was the much bigger site in 2005 and then after we hit ¼ into 2006 it all changed with Digg way overtaking Slashdot and now Digg has become a much more popular site (according to Alexa).
I think that digg has the edge, but i do not think that following stats that alexa brings out is the best indicator, check out my artcile about that here:
