One of the biggest worry would be someone or country launching a Nuclear weapon and know one has anyway of stopping a nuke after launch.
Now a new laser developed for military use is a few steps away from hitting a power threshold thought necessary to turn it into a battlefield weapon.
It is reported that this laser could one day be used to destroy rockets, mortars, or roadside bombs.
The Solid State Heat Capacity Laser (SSHCL) has achieved 67 kilowatts (kW) of average power in the laboratory which it takes 100kW mark for battlefield use and a chief scientist told the BBC it could take only a further six to eight months to reach that goal.
Potentially this weapon could be the answer to many fears about nuclear weapons.
