In the film Jurassic Park, a 12-year-old girl has to use the park’s security system to keep everyone from being eaten by dinosaurs. She walks up to the control terminal and utters the immortal words, “This is a Unix system. I know this.” And proceeds to (temporarily) save the day.
Leaving aside the plausibility of a 12-year-old knowing Unix, simply knowing Unix is not enough to immediately use any application running on the system. Yes, she could probably have used vi on the security terminal. But the specialized security system would have required some learning time — significant learning time if it were built on Unix, which has notoriously inconsistent user interface design and thus makes it harder to transfer skills from one application to the next.
Windows Vista is Microsoft’s most secure platform to date but this does not mean to say Windows Vista is the most secure operating system around.
As far as we can tell the actual security features in Windows Vista Home Premium and Home Basic will amount to little and really could have been just a free upgrade that windows XP could have had (saving you $200 on buying the vista upgrade).
Most of the security enhancements touted in Windows are in the higher visions of the operating system.
We like the way CNET put it in one line “That $200 Windows XP service pack called Vista”
So this leaves us with one question, How much new security really made it into the home editions of Vista?

Create better, richer listings and sell things much more quickly and easily on eBay.
With WipBox you can get deeper knowledge gathering and better preparation for the things you sell.
Based on each product’s basic info you can learn which categories and for how much you should list your items.
WipBox shows high, low and average prices for items and could be the answer for many to faster and better sales on eBay.

I placed my free upgrade order for Windows Vista on the 30th of Jan 2007 and got a long email back which included this line “For your order to be fulfilled, you must submit (by mail, facsimile or scan) your receipt for a qualifying PC, together with the online confirmation number listed on this page, to the following address or facsimile number”.
Now is this really needed as it also says “EXCEPT IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN UPGRADE REDEMPTION FORM, PLEASE SEE BELOW. Your order is subject to validation of your credit card and validation of your Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for the qualifying PC. You may only install the Upgrade Software on that qualifying PC”
When I check my order online it says COA Validated so does that mean all is ok now and it will ship as I have not sent in a receipt.
Anyone Know?
We keep seeing many stories on Windows Vista but we also kept seeing things that go against Apple and it just makes us think is Vista designed to make life hard for Apple products.
I cannot believe that this could be true as it would start lawsuits but seeing two stories from Yahoo News raises the question.

Microsoft has a new anti-piracy campaign. Check the cartoon (essentialy an animated comic book) on the left - it’s trying to be serious so hard it’s funny.
