Waste Methane
In a world where the people and press are talking about global warming and the environment we would think every industry would be looked at hard if it could help the environment.
So we would like to highlight some news about how around 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas are burned off or simply vented at remote oil rigs and refineries that are not connected by pipelines and this practice wastes a precious fuel and pumps methane, a potent greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere.
If this was looked at closer and a direct method of converting methane into useful chemical compounds could reduce the release of the potent greenhouse gas at isolated oil fields and in turn improve the environment we live in…this would help us all.
Researchers have been looking at just this and finding new technologies that could help improve this problem in the oil rig industry.
